Laboratory Chemist 

Role: 

  • To be part of the laboratory team in Coral FLNG facility. The lab chemist will be generally responsible  for managing laboratory shift activity, quality control for all daily sampling and analysis of air quality  and flue gases emission, perform and ensure the accuracy of all daily sampling and analysis  feedstock, plant streams and LNG as final product according to Coral FLNG S.A. standard and  specification as per design intent and certification of final product in plant inventory, quality control  of ship loading, liquid effluent and air emissions monitoring on Coral FLNG facility;
  • The job during the normal plant activities is in a rotation shift basis and the chemist shall be well  trained in the working environment to ensure the laboratory/equipment integrity. 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Perform chemical and physical analysis of samples according in aligned with modern analytical  techniques and approved Coral FLNG S.A. procedures in order to ensure the reliability, certainty and  integrity of test result, those tests shall include but not limited to only natural gas feedstock, water,  condensate, refrigerants during the process, intermediate plant streams or other fluids as well as  all test required for final product LNG, which will be involving of the use of laboratory apparatus and  desired equipment such as Gas Chromatograph, Spectrophotometers, etc; 
  • Ensure that all laboratory procedures are conducted as per Coral FLNG S.A. standard and safety  regulation, via ensuring that all work environments inside the laboratory is done safely and as per  Coral FLNG S.A. safety regulation;
  • Perform all relevant environmental analysis samples like flue gas emission, water disposal quality,  and provide reports in conformance and complaining with all approved procedure of Coral FLNG S.A.  environmental standards and as per locale legalization rules and law. 

Qualifications and Experience:  

  • 8 years of Oil & Gas Industry experience – at least 4 years of LNG operations experience;
  • Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry; 
  • Familiar with environmental management system; 
  • Safety awareness and knowledge of applicable regulations is required;
  • Experience of HSE requirements is an advantage; 
  • Experience of LNG or other cryogenic operations like Petrochemical plant is an advantage;
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodology and practices for hydrocarbon fluids especially, Gas  Chromatograph and spectrophotometers for LNG plant experience; 
  • Working knowledge of Safety legislation Implementation Awareness of incidents and emergencies  management; 
  • Root cause analysis of any related operations problem. 

Competencies: 

  • Safety awareness and knowledge of applicable regulations is required; 
  • Experience of HSE requirements is an advantage; 
  • Experience of LNG or other cryogenic operations is an advantage; 
  • Petrochemical l plant and operations experience;
  • LNG plant experience desirable; 
  • Development and implementation of safety related procedures; 
  • Safety Management;
  • Awareness of incidents and emergencies management;
  • Root cause analysis of any related operations problem;
  • Excellent spoken and written language skills and Computer literate Presentation Skills; 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail Cultural Sensitivity; 
  • Creativity and ability to work under pressure Organizational and time-management skills.  Leadership Skills; 
  • English Fluent English language: spoken and written.

  • Offshore Mozambique
