Job Description

At Eni, we are looking for an Agronomist within Eni Natural Energies in Maputo, Mozambique. You will be responsible for supporting projects to produce bio feedstock from agriculture, intended to feed the bio-refining plants.

As a member ofthe Agro-Energy department at Eni Natural Energies you will be responsible for:

  • Work with the Agri-energy Services which is a newly established unit in which agronomic expertise will be concentrated for the identification, launch and monitoring of bio feedstock production development projects.
  • Identify and select the seeds required for the development of vegetable oil production initiatives (bio feedstock) for their valorization in biorefinery.
  • Evaluate, identify, and select the best cultivation systems and cycles for bio feedstock production.
  • To verify and optimize agronomic yields for rotation crops and other sustainable crops for the different cropping systems in the areas of interest.
  • Participate in the monitoring and implementation of land works, e.g. irrigation, to improve the performance of bio feedstocks in the areas of interest.

This is the opportunity for you if you have these skills and requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences or similar with preference for specialization or PhD in Tropical Agronomy, Environment and Bioenergy.
  • Consolidated experience in the design and management of production chains, particularly in Mozambique and more generally in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Previous experience in designing and preferably managing production chains for biofuels and bio feedstock for their production.
  • Excellent knowledge of cultivation systems for the production of vegetable oils for bio feedstock, with particular reference to rotation crops and crops suitable for cultivation in degraded areas, not suitable for food production.
  • Knowledge of reference regulations on renewable energy from biomass, biofuels, certification, and general criteria of environmental and social sustainability.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language. Knowledge of Italian is a plus.
  • Full availability to international mobility in terms of travel and relocation.
